The Storytime alternative, on your map.

Storytime proved the local idea in New York: local businesses pay a flat monthly fee, vetted local creators visit in person, and posts land to a 48-hour standard. SIGNL is built on the same conviction, that national platforms sell reach while local businesses need regulars, and it is forming founding rosters in 38 markets, including Hampton Roads, Richmond and Raleigh. Here is the honest comparison of the two local influencer marketing platforms.

Credit where due, then the differences

Storytime's founders left a national influencer platform in 2024 to build the local version, and Inc. reports 450 businesses across 1,000 New York City locations on the platform. If your business is in their cities, they are a real option. Most local businesses are not in their cities.

Storytime details are as reported by Inc. and as published on storytime.io, checked October 2026: founded in 2024, launched in New York City, operating in New York City, parts of New Jersey and Miami with Boston in early access, and pricing reported from $150 a month for 15 creators a month in 2025 coverage. Storytime's site no longer publishes prices and asks businesses to request a demo for pricing in their location. Storytime is not affiliated with SIGNL, and SIGNL is not affiliated with Storytime.

Storytime vs SIGNL

Storytime is the closest model to SIGNL anywhere: brick-and-mortar businesses pay a flat monthly fee, vetted local creators activate tiered offers, visit in person, and post within 48 hours while the platform tracks the posts. It is built for local businesses in the cities where it operates.

The map
New York City is home: Storytime operates in New York City, parts of New Jersey and Miami, with Boston in early access. There is no Storytime presence in Virginia or North Carolina.
SIGNL is forming founding rosters in 38 markets across 8 countries, including Hampton Roads, Richmond, Raleigh, Charlotte, Washington DC and Baltimore, and offers launch city by city in waves as each roster fills.
The model
Creators activate a tiered voucher, worth $15 or $25 depending on their reach tier, and validate it at your register during the visit, then post within 48 hours.
Creators redeem a single-use code inside the SIGNL app, so your register and your point of sale are never touched, and your staff validate nothing. Redemption starts the same 48-hour clock, on a defined package: 1 post or reel plus 1 story that shares the post, tracked to delivery proof.
The price
Trade coverage in 2025 reported pricing from $150 a month for 15 creators a month. As of October 2026, Storytime's website does not publish prices and asks you to request a demo for pricing in your location.
Published on this website: $199 a month Self-Service (up to 5 creator visits a month), $349 a month Growth (up to 10) or $699 a month Managed (up to 20, with a human coordinator), with a 3-month minimum, then month to month. No demo call stands between you and the numbers.
The audience
Creators are vetted on local reach, which is the right instinct, but the vetting happens privately and businesses do not see a local audience percentage for each creator.
Every creator profile shows the share of that creator's followers who live in your market, labeled by source: Self-reported today; Verified by Instagram arrives when the Instagram connection activates. Profiles without enough data say so. You choose on the number, not on a promise.
The follow-through
Storytime tracks posts to the 48-hour deadline and reports on foot traffic and impressions.
SIGNL tracks the post to a 48-hour standard under a published no-show and late-post policy with real consequences, enforced automatically. After the post, performance numbers (views and likes) are collected and shown on your dashboard, next to each creator's delivery and on-time record.

Choose Storytime if your business is in New York City, New Jersey or Miami and you want a local creator program that is already operating there, with a reported 450 businesses on it in New York City alone.

Choose SIGNL if you are in one of SIGNL's 38 founding markets and you want published pricing, per-creator local audience data before you choose, redemption that stays off your register, and enforcement you can read in the terms.

Optional · Paid visits

When you want one specific creator

Comps are the default rail on SIGNL. When a business wants a particular creator who charges, SIGNL runs that as a paid visit at the creator's own rate, under the same tracked standard.

/ 01

Comp is the default

Standard visits run on the comp you offer, provided at your cost. Comp-only is always fine, forever; no business on SIGNL is ever required to pay a creator cash.

/ 02

Book a name, at their rate

Creators can list a paid rate on their profile, with a $50 floor. Book one and you pay their rate plus 3 percent; the creator keeps 97 percent of their rate. The total fee is 6 percent, split evenly between you and the creator.

/ 03

Held until the post is live

SIGNL holds the payment and releases it when the creator's post is live, under the same 48-hour tracked standard as a comp visit. No post, no release; a no-show refunds instead.

Comparison FAQ

The questions people actually ask

What is the best Storytime alternative?

It depends on your map. Storytime operates in New York City, parts of New Jersey and Miami, with Boston in early access. If your business is in one of SIGNL's 38 founding markets, including Hampton Roads, Richmond, Raleigh, Charlotte, Washington DC and Baltimore, SIGNL is the direct alternative built on the same local-visit idea, with published pricing ($199, $349 or $699 a month), per-creator local audience percentages shown with their source, and redemption inside the app instead of at your register. If you are in Storytime's cities and want a program already operating there, Storytime is the honest pick.

Storytime vs SIGNL: what is the difference?

Both connect local businesses with vetted local creators who visit in person and post within 48 hours. The differences: Storytime is built around New York City and a short list of markets, and no longer publishes pricing; 2025 coverage reported it from $150 a month. SIGNL is forming rosters in 38 founding markets and publishes $199, $349 and $699 pricing. Storytime creators validate tiered vouchers at your register; SIGNL codes redeem inside the app. SIGNL shows each creator's local audience share on their profile, labeled by source, and businesses see every creator's delivery and on-time record before booking.

Storytime is not in my city. What are my options?

If your city is one of SIGNL's 38 founding markets, you can join the founding business list now: your category spot in your trade area is held in application order, founding pricing is locked while you remain subscribed, and your plan starts when your market launches. Nothing is charged today. If your city is not listed yet, signing up anyway starts its list; cities with the most sign-ups are how SIGNL picks what opens next.

How much does SIGNL cost?

Published pricing, the same in every market: $199 a month for Self-Service (up to 5 creator visits a month, about $40 per visit), $349 a month for Growth (up to 10 visits a month, about $35 per visit) or $699 a month for Managed (up to 20 visits a month, with a human coordinator), with a 3-month minimum and then month to month. Founding businesses get $100 off the first month. Visits you don't use roll into the next month, then expire. The only other cost is the comp you choose to offer, provided at your cost, not retail.

How does SIGNL verify a creator actually visited?

Each booking issues a single-use code the creator redeems inside the SIGNL app at the business, so the visit is proven, not promised, and your register is never touched. Redemption starts the 48-hour posting clock for the Standard Visit: 1 post or reel plus 1 story that shares the post. The creator submits the live post link as delivery proof, and the post must stay live at least 30 days.

Can I book a specific creator for a paid visit on SIGNL?

Yes. Creators can list a paid rate on their profile, and comp-only is always fine for those who do not. Booking a creator at their rate costs the rate plus 3 percent on your side, and the creator keeps 97 percent of their rate: a 6 percent total fee, split evenly. SIGNL holds the payment until the post is live, under the same tracked standard as a comp visit.
